Aircon Servicing

Keep your cooling plant working the way it should with routine aircon servicing for homes, shops and light commercial sites. Modern Equipment services split systems, cassette units and package systems across Kimberley and the Northern Cape.

What our aircon servicing covers

Routine servicing is the difference between an aircon that cools properly and one that runs longer, uses more electricity and still leaves a room stuffy. In Kimberley, where dust, dry air and long summer runs put extra strain on equipment, we clean and check the full system so it can work the way it was meant to.

Our servicing is suited to wall-mounted split units, ceiling cassette units, under-ceiling units and light commercial systems. We also check drainage and refrigerant performance, because a blocked drain or low gas charge often shows up as weak airflow, water dripping indoors, or a unit that cycles too often during peak heat.

  • Indoor and outdoor coil cleaning
  • Filter washing or replacement check
  • Drain line clearing and condensate check
  • Electrical inspection of terminals, contactors and capacitors
  • Operating pressure and temperature checks
  • General tightening, cleaning and safety check

Our service process on site

We keep the process practical and tidy. For most standard units, the technician first tests the unit in operation, checks the fault symptoms if any, then isolates power before opening up the system. Covers are removed carefully, filters are cleaned, and the indoor coil is washed to remove dust build-up and sticky residue that reduces airflow.

After that we move to the outside unit, where we clear debris, inspect the fan motor area and clean the condenser coil. We also check wiring points, drain routes and the general condition of mounting brackets and line sets. If a component needs replacement, we note it clearly before any work goes ahead. That helps you plan properly, especially on sites that cannot afford downtime.

  • Initial inspection and running test
  • Power isolation and safe access
  • Deep clean of indoor and outdoor sections
  • Drain and electrical checks
  • Final test, temperature reading and handover

Turnaround times for homes and businesses

For single units in Kimberley, many servicing jobs can be completed in the same visit, depending on access, dirt build-up and whether parts are needed. A standard wall-mounted unit usually takes about 1 to 2 hours. Larger systems, such as multiple office units or ceiling cassettes in retail spaces, can take longer and may need a scheduled maintenance window after hours.

We plan around your trading hours where needed. Shops, schools, clinics and office spaces often prefer early morning or late afternoon work so the temperature stays manageable for staff and customers. If the unit has not been serviced for a long time, or the filters and coils are badly clogged, we will advise the time needed up front so there are no surprises.

How we price aircon servicing

We price servicing according to the type of unit, the number of units, access conditions and whether the job is a standard clean or a more detailed recovery job. A simple residential service is not costed the same as a multi-unit commercial site with high ceilings, difficult access or heavily contaminated equipment.

Where possible we quote after a short site discussion or inspection, especially for businesses with several units. That helps keep pricing fair and clear. If a unit only needs routine maintenance, you do not pay for unnecessary extra work. If we find a worn capacitor, a blocked drain or a failing fan motor, we explain the options before proceeding.

  • Single-unit homes and flats
  • Small businesses and offices
  • Multi-unit commercial properties
  • Sites with access equipment or after-hours requirements

Service intervals that make sense in the Northern Cape

In most homes, we recommend servicing at least once a year. For units that run daily, or for premises with high dust levels, kitchens, salon spaces, workshops and retail floors, twice yearly is often the better option. In the hotter months around Kimberley and nearby towns, systems work harder and blocked filters can become a real problem very quickly.

Coastal humidity is not the main issue here but dust and dry conditions still affect coil efficiency, fan balance and air quality. If your site uses the aircon for most of the day, a planned interval helps reduce breakdowns and keeps electricity use under control. Regular servicing also supports cleaner indoor air, which matters for staff comfort and for customers who spend longer periods indoors.

Areas we serve from New Park, Kimberley

Modern Equipment is based in New Park, Kimberley and works across the city and surrounding Northern Cape areas. We assist in New Park, Roodepan, Galeshewe, Kuruman and Upington, as well as nearby industrial and commercial sites that need dependable support. For larger sites, we can coordinate service visits as part of a planned maintenance schedule.

If your aircon is weak, noisy, leaking or taking too long to cool, it is usually worth servicing before the problem grows. A well-serviced unit lasts longer, uses less power and gives more even cooling through the day.

What clients say

Questions we get asked

How often should I service my aircon?

Once a year is the minimum for most homes. If the unit runs daily, sits in dusty conditions, or serves a business space, servicing every 6 months is usually better.

Do you service more than one unit at a site?

Yes. We handle single units, multi-unit homes and business premises. For larger sites, we can plan the work around trading hours or after-hours access.

What are the signs that a service is overdue?

Weak airflow, longer cooling times, water dripping inside, bad smells, unusual noise and higher electricity use are all common signs. If you notice any of these, the unit should be checked.
